Cabinteely 19s 1, Blues 19s 2 (21/5/17, Stradbrook, Dublin)

Taken after the game!

David Breen's team finally found its way into the winning circle last Sunday at Stradbrook when they accounted for hosts Cabinteely by the odd goal in three.

This was an entertaining game played in ideal conditions before a small attendance. It has to be said that the playing surface at Stradbrook has improved somewhat now that the rugby season has ended.

Shane Griffin gave the Blues the lead after 25 minutes and Eddie Black scored what proved to be the winner around the hour mark. Cabo pulled a goal back after that but could not force an equaliser.

This was an impressive all round display with a number of stand outs for the Blues including Owen Wall, Ben Murray between the sticks, Jack Lynch and Tunmise Sobowale. Hard to understand how this team was in the lower half of the league, not to imagine bottom but thankfully this is no longer the case. Wexford now prop up the table.

Well done to all the boys and the management team......hopefully many more wins to follow.

Blues: Ben Murray, Darragh Corcoran, Darragh O'Connor, Jack Lynch Daryl Walsh, Shane Griffin, Eddie Black, Tunmise Sobowale, Sean Roche (Glenn Waters 68'), Michael Carroll. Unused subs: Paul Martin, Adam Feeney, Cian Flanagan.
