Blues 2, Galway Utd 1 (8/2/17, RSC, Waterford)

Mark O'Sullivan continued to show his experience and class with two well taken goals against the latest Premier Division visitors to the RSC and to be honest he could have completed his hat-trick during this pre-season game. What a great asset he promises to be in the months to come and what a favourite he will be if he continues as he has started.

The Blues ran out 2-1 victors and deservedly so. This was an impressive work out and slowly but surely Nutsy and Rennie are getting their squad sorted although it should not be forgotten that several more players have yet to added to the squad. Longford remain favourites for the Division 1 title according to Paddy Power and the gaffers must see to it that this is was a wrong call by the bookie.

Both O'Sullivan goals were scored just before the break although the Blues could easily have taken an earlier lead. Kenny McEvoy had two good chances, hitting the post with one.

Galway pulled a goal back after an hour but to be honest the Blues remained comfortable and the result was never really in doubt. They did have further chances. Mark O'Sullivan's header was saved; one of the Blues trialists volleyed over and Owen Wall's shot was saved.

No game this up another Premier Division side - Limerick away next Friday and after that the real thing!

The game was played in perfect conditions on a perfect pitch. The match officials did well - no controversy. Good to see a caterer return to the doubt on trial!

C'mon the Blues
