The long wait for long suffering Blues fans is over and the 2017 season has already started with a couple of friendly games already under the belt for a very different looking squad. The club has a new name and a new crest. New management teams are in place, on and off the field and hopes are high that this is the year when the Blues will cast finally throw away their long standing reputation as 'also rans' in the League of Ireland......all the result of a significant investment in the club by its new owner and new chairman, Lee Power, former Republic of Ireland U21 international, who has a similar interest and role in English Championship side Swindon Town.
For the (few) Blues fans who travelled up and down the country for the last few years, watching the team struggle for the most part, this is a well deserved reward for their loyalty - take a bow guys and gals! For all other Blues fans, welcome aboard. Hopefully you will stick around this time.
Great credit and admiration is due to the outgoing management team who worked under impossible conditions to keep the club afloat in recent years, constantly on the receiving end of unfair treatment and criticism. This blog salutes you all as it wishes well the new club owner and the new management team.
C'mon the Blues!
