28 March, RSC, Waterford

Blues 4, Rockmount AFC 0 (EA Sports Cup)
A comfortable win for the Blues against a game MSL side, the result was never in doubt. Roddy Collins expressed himself happy with the display, making the point that winning is a habit that he is happy to learn.
Of the starting team last Friday against Cabinteely, only Darren Murphy (captain for the day), Colum Nugent & Dylan McGuire started but it did not really show against much weaker opposition. The result was never really in doubt.
The game was played in perfect conditions for the most part, even if the weather deteriorated for patches.
Eoin Rhodes scored the first early on when he rounded the visiting keeper and slotted home into the empty net. He doubled the score a short while later when he converted a lovely head down by Dean Broaders. Jimmy Dermody then got in on the act at the end of some good work by Dylan McGuire - the best of the four goals on the day. Dean Broaders hit his first goal for the Blues after an hour again from a knock down this time by Rhodes.
Others to catch the eye were keeper Corey Chambers, Dean Reidy and Colum Nugent.
The prize for the Blues is another trip to Turner's Cross to play the Cawkies which the gaffer will use to measure the improvement of his team since its last trip Leeside.
The encounter gave very useful game time to a number of players who will be called on many times as the season advances. And it will certainly stand a few of the younger Blues in good stead....the visitors were quite robust for much of the second half after the game had drifted completely out of their reach.
All in all an efficient display, very entertaining at times and one that continues the current good run for the Blues.
The attendance was a modest 150.

Blues: Corey Chambers, Dean Reidy, James Dermody, Colum Nugent, Ray Butler, Richie Tobin, Aaron O'Connor, Darren Murphy (Robbie Buckley 53), Eoin Rhodes (Jake Rooney 60), Dean Broaders, Dylan McGuire. Subs not used; Ian Sinnott, Kevin Burns.
